1 O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name:
Make known his deeds among the people.
2 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him:
Talk ye of all his wondrous works.
3 Glory ye in his holy name:
Let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.
4 Seek the Lord, and his strength:
Seek his face evermore.
5 Remember his marvellous works that he hath done;
His wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;
6 O ye seed of Abraham his servant,
Ye children of Jacob his chosen.
In this Psalm, the people of God are invited to give thanks to the LORD for all His wonderous works for His people. The entire Psalm 105 describes specific works for which God is being praised.
The LORD made and kept covenants with Israel, and He does so today for all who come to Him through Christ.
God makes and keeps promises that give us the ability to have relationship with Him, though we are unworthy. While we always fall short, the LORD always is true, holy, and on high above all.
The LORD watches over His people as we journey through His will. God is sovereignly reigning and always worthy of our faithful trust.
God delivers His people from the bondage of sin, the way of the world, and the devil--as He delivered Israel from Egypt. He cares for and even corrects us as we travel through life's deserts and in our own wrong decision--as He did for Israel in the wilderness.
He always fulfills His covenant promises. God's Word is always true. The LORD is bringing His redeemed into holy relationship with Him and eternal fellowship, and for this we thank Him!
This Sunday, we will look at God's New Covenant given through Christ Jesus our Lord as we partake in the Lord's Supper together. It will include a time of thanksgiving for His promise and work of salvation.
God is always faithful and worthy of our thanks. This Thanksgiving, may we give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name, sing to Him, talk of His wonderous works, glory in Him, seek Him, and remember all God has done for His people.
